Eastland Group Wairoa Contestable Community Grants
Eastland Group / Wairoa District Council
Contestable grants for projects focused on the Wairoa awa.
Before you apply
The awa focus was set after the council asked the community how the fund should be applied, and marae and Māori organisations have been among the recipients — a marae for an awa restoration project, and a taiwhenua for a mauri compass project on the Waiau and the Wairoa. Kaitiakitanga kaupapa land well here.
Application forms download from the council website or can be picked up in person.
Worth knowing about locally: Wairoa District Council and the Department of Internal Affairs run free Wairoa Funding Clinics — hands-on sessions on what funders want, how to plan a project and how to write a strong application. They are held at local venues including Frasertown, Mahia, Nuhaka and the Taiwhenua in Wairoa, so they come to you rather than the other way round. Ring the council for the next round of dates.
