Before you apply

Two stages, and the trap is the first one. Applicants submit an expression of interest months ahead, and only those selected are invited to submit a full application. Arriving at the full-application deadline without having done the EOI is too late. The 2026 full round closed 20 August. A general HRC fund rather than a Māori-specific one, though kaupapa Māori and Māori health advancement research is in scope. For dedicated Māori health research see the Rangahau Hauora Māori stream, also listed here. Up to $1.4 million over a term of up to five years.
