The ten scholarships on the 2026 secondary form, quoted from the Māori Education Trust's page: the Edward Carlton Holmes Memorial Scholarship, "available to students who are registered beneficiaries of the Ngāti Kahungunu Ki Wairarapa Tāmaki nui-ā-Rua Post Settlement Government Entity"; the Māori Education Trust Secondary Boarding Scholarship, for "Māori boarding students with demonstrated financial need, academic ability and aptitude"; the Māori Education Trust Years 10-13 Scholarship, for "Years 10 to 13 Māori students with demonstrated financial need"; the Ōtaki and Porirua Trusts Board Secondary Scholarship, for beneficiaries "registered with the ART Confederation Iwi: Raukawa ki te Tonga, Ngāti Toarangatira or Te Ati Awa ki Whakarongotai"; the RJ Graham Secondary Scholarship, for "Year 12 and Year 13 Māori students with academic merit studying Te Reo Māori and either mathematics, information technology or science"; the Rose Hellaby Scholarship, for "Year 9 students with demonstrated financial need" needing help with uniforms or textbooks; the Sister Annie Henry Secondary Scholarship, for descendants "of Reverend John George Laughton or of Tūhoe descent"; the Tangiharuru Apa Trust Secondary Scholarship (listed separately in full); the Tī Maru Māori Trust Secondary Boarding Scholarship, for "Year 9 Māori students... enrolled at a secondary boarding school"; and the VW & LM Rosier Scholarship, for "Year 13 Māori students with demonstrated financial need and NCEA Level 2 with Merit or Excellence Endorsement."

The descent and iwi-registration ones are the point. A whānau who know their tupuna, or their iwi's Post Settlement Governance Entity, may be eligible for something no general search would ever surface. The Edward Carlton Holmes and Tangiharuru Apa scholarships each have an undergraduate and postgraduate counterpart, listed separately under the Wairarapa Settlement Trust and Tangiharuru Apa Trust respectively.

Parents and caregivers can apply on behalf of tamariki. The mechanic that decides how you use this: you may apply for as many scholarships as you are eligible for, in a single application, but only one will be awarded to you. So tick everything you qualify for — there is no penalty and no advantage in choosing — and let them place you.
