Before you apply

The thing worth acting on is separate from the pack itself. Register pēpi with Whakapapa Ngāi Tahu before they turn 12 months and they automatically receive a pounamu pendant and a personalised whakapapa scroll tracing back to their 1848 kaumātua in the Blue Book. No application, it happens on enrolment, and it can take up to 10 weeks. Start the registration as soon as you have the birth certificate. A wahakura is no longer included in the pack — Ngāi Tahu point whānau to Plunket or their Tamariki Ora provider for safe sleep options. Packs sent overseas leave out harakeke products because of customs rules. Running since 2015.
