Closes
Applications open 1 September 2026, close midnight 31 January 2027
Who can apply
The funder's detailed criteria page states: “One scholarship will be available to a student who can whakapapa to Ngāti Whakaue, who is studying medicine full-time at a registered Medical School in Aotearoa New Zealand.” Applicants “must have completed one year of full-time study” at Otago Medical School or the University of Auckland Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, and must be “New Zealand citizens or permanent residents”. A completed Ngāti Whakaue Whakapapa form must be submitted with the application.
Whakapapa
Must whakapapa to Ngāti Whakaue and complete a Ngāti Whakaue Whakapapa form. The funder's own funding-round summary table (geysercf.org.nz/2026funding/) instead describes this scholarship as for students who “whakapapa to Te Arawa” — the two funder pages disagree on the iwi restriction. Recorded here using the stricter, detailed criteria-page wording (Ngāti Whakaue) pending clarification from the funder.
