Before you apply

TEC's own fund-finder page (last updated 26 March 2026) describes MPTT as fees-free pre-trades training (NZQCF Levels 1-4) for Māori and Pasifika learners aged 16-40, delivered through a partnership model of iwi, hapū, Māori and Pasifika community groups, employers and TEOs, funded through TEC's DQ1-2/DQ3-7 allocations. It doesn't publish applicant-facing amounts or dates itself (those are set by each local provider) — confirming the existing framing that this is best checked at the provider level.
