Community grants across Te Moana a Toi, with the timeline set by how much you ask for.
Before you apply
Lead time is the thing to plan around and it steps with the amount. Under $50,000 is reviewed monthly, so apply three months before you need the pūtea. Over $50,000 goes to the full board quarterly and you should be talking to them three to six months out. Leave it late and the application simply will not be seen in time.
Above $50,000 you work with BayTrust staff to build a business case for the trustees, so it is a collaboration rather than a submission. Strategic Partnership Funding goes through a staged process — expression of interest, shortlist, business case, then presentation.
Operational costs, events, capital purchases and projects are all fundable, which is broader than most. The application asks which single funding priority your outcomes best align with, and how you evaluate your own effectiveness — have an answer to that second one ready.
BayTrust is also one of the five funders behind the Kaupapa Māori Event Fund in Tauranga Moana, listed here.
