Around $60,000 a year for medium and large waste minimisation projects over $2,000.
Before you apply
One round a year and the money must be spent inside the same financial year, so a project that will not start until well after the round is a poor fit. Plan the delivery timeline before applying, not after.
Under $2,000 goes to the Rapid Fund instead, which runs monthly. Iwi and Māori organisations are named in the eligibility list rather than left to be inferred. So are neighbourhood groups of five or more households, so an unincorporated group of whānau can apply.
Funded from the national waste levy. Covers seed funding for projects and start-ups, resource recovery, redesigning systems, community networks, infrastructure and assets, and technology. Applications go through SmartyGrants, and the council offer help if you do not have a computer or want a hand with the online form — grants@cdc.govt.nz. A successful grant needs an Accountability Acquittal form through the same portal.
