Before you apply

As of 16 September 2026, the council page has been updated with the full 2026/27 schedule: Round 2 opens 12 October 2026 and closes 4.30pm Friday 20 November 2026, Round 3 opens 11 January 2027 and closes 19 February 2027, and Round 4 opens 12 April 2027 and closes 19 May 2027. Email deannae@mstn.govt.nz to confirm. CCS funds new artworks as part of marae projects such as tukutuku, whakairo, whāriki and kōwhaiwhai. It does not fund marae facility development or restoration — that goes to Lottery Funding for Community Facilities, which replaced Oranga Marae on 1 July 2026. Masterton also runs a separate Marae Development Fund. Does not fund: equipment such as instruments, cameras, costumes or lights; ongoing administration or personnel costs; projects already started or finished; travel to attend performances elsewhere; or projects mainly about health, education or environment with only a small arts component.
