Before you apply

Read this as a partnership rather than a grant. MYD is looking for organisations to put money in alongside them, not only to deliver — an iwi entity with pūtea of its own is exactly the counterparty described.

A two-step process. An expression of interest comes first, to understand the market and identify potential funders, and the EOI sits on GETS through the financial year rather than closing on a date.

Rangatahi Māori are the first of MYD’s seven priority groups, alongside young Pacific peoples, young women, Rainbow rangatahi, young people with disabilities, ethnic communities, and young people in the regions. Funded programmes have to align with government priorities including fewer people on Jobseeker Support, and supporting young parents aged 12 to 24 with children in their first 2,000 days.

The barrier worth knowing early: providers contracted by MYD need Social Services Accreditation, assessed against a set of standards. If your rōpū is not accredited, that is the first piece of work, not the application.
