25 undergraduate scholarships of $1,000 and 5 postgraduate scholarships of $3,000 for registered Ngātiwai uri studying at a tertiary institution, 2026 round closing 30 October.
Before you apply
Vocational study counts alongside tertiary, which many iwi scholarships leave out. Commitment to the wellbeing of the iwi is named as a criterion beside academic commitment, so what you give back belongs in the application rather than only what you are studying.
Ngātiwai also run their own Private Training Establishment through Te Au Here o Tūkaiāia, delivering programmes for all ages from taitamariki through to kaumātua wanting to reconnect with te reo me ngā tikanga o Ngātiwai. Enrolling there is a separate path from the scholarship and worth asking about at the same time.
The amounts, numbers and dates come from the 2026 Tertiary Education Scholarship Application Form (PDF) linked from the page. Send the form by post or email to scholarships@ngatiwai.iwi.nz, 2026 Scholarships, PO Box 1332, Whangārei 0140. “Successful applicants will not be eligible to apply for another Scholarship of any kind from the Ngātiwai Trust Board for a minimum of 2 years.” The decision is final with no right of appeal. Ngātiwai Trust Board, 129 Port Road, Whangārei. (09) 430 0939, ngatiwai@ngatiwai.iwi.nz.
