Te Māngai Pāho’s round for content that informs — news, current affairs, documentaries and docuseries offering a Māori perspective in te reo Māori on events and stories of significance. Replaces the previous news and current affairs round and part of the general audience round.

Who can apply

Content producers. Priority to high-quality reo Māori documentaries, news and current affairs for diverse audiences across free-to-access media platforms. Returning and known projects are prioritised. Register with Te Pūahatanga before applying.

The round consolidates several earlier rounds, following reduced baseline funding in 2026/27 and sector feedback asking for clearer priorities. Around $2 million of the round is reserved for content types other than news and current affairs.
