Before you apply

An outstanding accountability report stops you applying. If Sport Tasman has not received and signed off the report for a previously funded project — whether it is underway or already finished — you cannot apply again. Check that before you plan anything, and it may not be you who left it unfinished.

Not eligible: national organisations already receiving Partnership Investment from Sport NZ, and government agencies or their regional branches.

Explicitly not funded here: representative team costs including uniforms, travel and accommodation; academies and professional athletes; capital infrastructure; administration and ongoing costs such as rent, internet or power; and wages for existing staff not involved in delivering the project.

There is a kaupapa Māori pathway. Several regions assess those applications against Te Whetū Rehua, the five key Māori development criteria. If your kaupapa is Māori-led, apply through that pathway rather than the general one.

You must show the tamariki and rangatahi actually want it — collated survey results, a photo of a whiteboard brainstorm, a video of young people talking about it. Do that before you write.

Ages 5 to 18. Priority to those less active, including girls and young women, disabled tamariki and rangatahi, and higher deprivation communities. Funds delivery — venue or equipment hire, transport, and wages for delivery staff. Does not fund capital costs, existing staff salaries, administration, medals, or representative teams and academies.

You must be a legal entity, or partner with one. Fourteen Regional Sports Trusts deliver this and each sets its own rounds — apply to the one covering your rohe.

Link note, 31 August 2026. The specific fund page has moved or been taken down and now lands on the trust’s homepage. Look for Tū Manawa in their funding section, or ring them. The fund itself is unchanged.
