Up to $20,000 for smaller projects and up to $65,000 for larger ones, for takatāpui, MVPFAFF+ and rainbow communities in Tāmaki Makaurau and Te Tai Tokerau.
Before you apply
Check the amounts before you plan around them. The page gives the two tiers above, and its FAQ says “($10,000 / $70,000) applies to the whole project”, which does not match. Ask secretary@rulefoundation.nz which applies.
Unlike most of the Rule Foundation's funds it can cover operational costs. It covers a broad range of activity, including events, programmes, arts, sport, culture and education.
Not funded: retrospective costs, fundraising, debt repayment, refinancing, endowments, and promoting religious or political party objectives. Existing Foundation North clients and current grantees are excluded; write to secretary@rulefoundation.nz if that is you. “Funding is limited to one grant per 12 months per organisation.”
A detailed budget is needed, and a short report after the project. Apply through the link on the Rule Foundation page. Since 11 November 2024, rainbow applications from Tāmaki Makaurau and Te Tai Tokerau come here and not to Foundation North directly.
