Two grants for rangatahi in Horowhenua — one for community projects, one for personal development.
Before you apply
Two separate doorways in one fund, and rangatahi often apply for the wrong one. If the kaupapa benefits the community it is a Community Project Grant up to $2,000. If it is your own learning, skill or talent it is a Personal Development Grant up to $500.
You cannot claim personal development for something already covered by a group application, so a rōpū funded for a wānanga cannot then have each member claim individually for attending it.
The application asks for a short video explaining or showcasing the project, which suits rangatahi better than a written form but does mean planning for it. It also asks what help you need from council staff — worth answering properly rather than leaving blank.
Only $17,000 a year across the whole district, so earlier in the year is better than later. Under 13 and over 24 are both ineligible, as is anyone who neither lives nor attends school in Horowhenua.
