Before you apply

Two rules that catch people. It pays tuition fees only, and the money goes to Inland Revenue or to whoever paid the fees rather than to you. And if you have had a grant from the Board before you must supply your academic record and have passed at least 75% of your courses to get another. Withdraw from a course and you have to tell the Board, or you may lose eligibility for future grants. Part-time study qualifies, which many iwi education grants exclude. Incomplete applications are returned rather than assessed. Registration is the gate — descent alone is not enough, and the Board states plainly that applications will only be accepted from registered iwi members. Its decision is final and no correspondence is entered into. The Board may require successful applicants to take part in iwi activities as a condition of the grant, and reserves the right to use your name and photo for publicity.
