Who can apply
Tauira in tertiary study who can provide verified whakapapa confirming their connection to Te Tumu Kaituna 14 Trust. A shareholder must sign the whakapapa sheet. You must be in the FINAL year of an undergraduate degree or higher, in FULL-time study on an NZQA-approved course or overseas equivalent.

Before you apply

This one is doubly out of step. The rule is final year of your undergraduate degree or above, so second and third years of a three-year degree are out, and it opens 10 March rather than 27 January like the rest. Closes 30 April 4.30pm as usual. Registration is once only. After that you can see every online grant your whakapapa makes you eligible for, which is the point of applying through this system rather than chasing trusts one at a time. Use the same login each year and you do not have to supply whakapapa again. Uploads required: verified whakapapa sheet signed by a shareholder, enrolment confirmation, academic record for year 2 and above, a receipt for fees paid or student loan advice, and bank account confirmation. An invoice is not a receipt. First-year students on Fees Free need eligibility confirmation from the Tertiary Education Commission. Check whether you are an owner through Māori Land Online, owner interest tab. The trusts also work with the Māori Education Trust, which can add further funding to a successful application. Deloitte Rotorua also administers secondary school grants, hard-copy tertiary grants and scholarship grants for these trusts. Contact Lee Gray, leegray@deloitte.co.nz.
