Before you apply

Different from MAPIP and people confuse them. MAPIP is one-on-one for your own block. MABx puts you in a cluster with other trusts at a similar stage, learning together and getting the benefits of scale.

It asks for real commitment — time, effort and knowledge shared with other trusts — so it suits owners genuinely open to collective work rather than those wanting advice on their own terms. You need trustee agreement before you start. Start with your local Māori Agribusiness adviser rather than the form — MPI run a regional kaimahi network for exactly this and will help test an idea before you write it up. maoriagribusiness@mpi.govt.nz.
