Before you apply

Flexible about what the money is spent on, which is unusual for a government fund. Assessed on innovation, on mana motuhake — how the project helps you reach your own aspirations for your primary sector assets — on how well placed you are to deliver, and on fit with industry and government strategies. Mana motuhake being an explicit criterion is worth writing to directly.

This is one of four Māori agribusiness programmes MPI runs, all listed here. The others are MAPIP for one-on-one support, MABx for working in clusters, and He Ara Mahi Hou for workforce and governance. Start with your local Māori Agribusiness adviser rather than the form — MPI run a regional kaimahi network for exactly this and will help test an idea before you write it up. maoriagribusiness@mpi.govt.nz.
