ROMST Sports and Cultural Sponsorship and Event Fund

Sponsorship for registered Rangitāne uri selected to represent their region or country, and an event fund for organisers of one-off kaupapa that benefit Rangitāne whānau and hapū.

Apply at least four weeks before the event. Each roopū may receive one sponsorship in any rolling 12 months.

Who can apply

Two streams. The Sponsorship Fund supports individuals “who have been selected to represent their region, iwi, or country in sanctioned sporting or cultural events at the regional, national, or international level, and where no other designated funding is available”. The Event Fund “supports the delivery of larger one off events, programmes, or initiatives that provide a direct benefit to Rangitāne whānau, hapū, or the wider community”. Applicants must “be of Rangitāne descent and a registered beneficiary of the Rangitāne o Manawatū Settlement Trust (ROMST) database”. For teams, “50% or more of participants” must be registered ROMST uri.

Amount

Individuals: regional rep at a national event up to $100, regional rep at an international event up to $200, national rep at an international event up to $500. Events are considered case by case.

Before you apply

Evidence of formal selection is required, such as a letter, email or public announcement from the governing body. Self-selected or invitational participation does not count. A kaupapa can use only one stream, and an application declined in one stream cannot be resubmitted in the other. “Rangitāne o Manawatū Settlement Trust is unable to provide sponsorship for: Fundraisers, Reunions, Buildings and equipment, wages, Local & Regional school sporting events, School exchanges or trips, University and school fees and uniforms.” Successful applicants report back on a form on the trust's site. info@romst.iwi.nz.
