Whānau Ora commissioning — Rangitāmiro

Rangitāmiro (Whānau Ora Commissioning Agency)

Rangitāmiro is the Whānau Ora commissioning agency for Te Tai Tokerau, Tāmaki Makaurau, Waikato, Hauraki and Tūwharetoa. It does not run an open application round. It invests in providers and initiatives, so a group's route is through the agency or one of its providers.

Before you apply

There is no application form or fund to apply to here. Rangitāmiro's own site says “Our role is not to deliver services directly.” It describes investing in providers and initiatives that are connected to their communities, and it publishes no funding amounts, priorities or call for proposals. Its Our Providers page lists providers by region: Te Tai Tokerau, Tāmaki Makaurau, and Waikato, Hauraki and Tūwharetoa.

What to do. Email comms@rangitaamiro.nz, or get to know a listed provider in your rohe. A group without a provider behind it should not expect to be funded directly.

Check which agency covers you. Te Puni Kōkiri describes this area as north of and including Taupō, but Māhutonga's own site lists Waiariki as part of its area. A group in the Bay of Plenty or Rotorua should ask both agencies which one covers it.

Whānau Ora commissioning was rebuilt from 1 July 2025. The original agencies, Te Pou Matakana, Te Pūtahitanga o Te Waipounamu and Pasifika Futures, no longer hold the contracts, and older guidance naming them is out of date. Commissioning and service delivery must now remain separate, so an agency cannot commission itself. Rangitāmiro was formed by the National Hauora Coalition, Te Tiratū and Ngaa Pou Hauora o Taamaki Makaurau. Te Puni Kōkiri's Whānau Ora page, which this listing used to link to, explains how the commissioning agencies are funded but does not describe any application.
