Before you apply

There is no fund to apply to here. Te Tauraki's commissioning page says “We contract and support Whānau Ora service providers to deliver outcomes that matter to whānau and communities.” It operates under a 12-year Outcome Agreement with Te Puni Kōkiri and was selected as one of four commissioning agencies after a 2024 tender.

What to do. Whānau should contact their nearest Whānau Ora provider; the site has a map of them. A group that wants to become a provider should email the agency, because the site does not describe a process.

Whānau Ora commissioning was rebuilt from 1 July 2025. The original agencies, Te Pou Matakana, Te Pūtahitanga o Te Waipounamu and Pasifika Futures, no longer hold the contracts, and older guidance naming them is out of date. Commissioning and service delivery must now remain separate, so an agency cannot commission itself. A subsidiary of Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu.
