Before you apply

Two months of lead time, which is longer than the sports grants ask for. For rangatahi in Years 9 to 13 pursuing educational activities, so it sits alongside rather than inside the tertiary Education Grant. Every one of these needs an iwi registration number, and getting one is not instant — you submit whakapapa over three to four generations back to a Tupuna Heke and the Whakapapa Committee confirms it. Start that before a deadline, not at one. Lost your number? iwiregistrationadmin@ngatitoa.iwi.nz.
