Who can apply
Registered Ngāti Tūwharetoa kaumātua aged 60 or over who live in Aotearoa. The grant must be used with a New Zealand based medical provider.
Whakapapa
Registered with the Tūwharetoa Māori Trust Board, the Tūwharetoa Settlement Trust or the Ngāti Tūwharetoa Fisheries Charitable Trust. Registration with one of the three is what makes you eligible, not descent alone.
Amount

Before you apply

The payment rhythm decides how fast you see the money. Applications must be in by the 10th of a month to be paid on the 20th of that month, so missing the 10th costs you a month. You can claim once in each category every year rather than once overall, so travel and eye treatment are separate claims. 60 and over here. Three entities fund these jointly — the Tūwharetoa Māori Trust Board, the Tūwharetoa Settlement Trust and the Ngāti Tūwharetoa Fisheries Charitable Trust. Being registered with any one of them can be enough, so check all three before deciding you are not eligible. Office (07) 386 8832, education@tuwharetoa.co.nz.
